As part of a live brief set by the University of Wolverhampton Campus Store, I created a hoodie design for the Graduate 2025 collection. The design needed to be gender-neutral, cost-effective, limited to two print colours, and representative of the University’s identity without using the official logo.
Wanting to move away from traditional varsity or wolf themed designs, I developed a clean, modern visual inspired by geometric forms from the University’s brand palette. The final motif featured two intersecting triangles forming a subtle W, a minimal yet meaningful nod to Wolverhampton that suggests movement and progression, fitting for a graduation theme.
I explored different layouts and placements through sketches and digital mockups, refining the design into a bold front pocket graphic with an optional back print for greater impact. The colour palette included burgundy and gold to convey celebration and tradition, as well as grey and black for versatility and gender neutrality.
This project taught me how to balance creative ambition with production realities, such as print limitations and cost efficiency. It also allowed me to experiment with abstraction and shape as tools for visual storytelling. The final design reflects pride, achievement, and forward momentum, offering a fresh take on graduate apparel that could expand into future merchandise lines.
